Timing is Everything After all!

I took the leap and retired early this past year effective 8/31/17.  Wow what a whirlwind few weeks that was.

After the great send off at work and with my nerves a little heightened, I was finally out of the daily grind.  My first step was to transition an area in my house into “my space”.  Realizing that was going to take some moving furniture and a computer upgrade, I slowed myself down and started a ‘list’.

Fast forward through September, I was finally in some kind of routine.  With my grown daughter in college and her wonderful 10 year old son in 4th grade (both live with us), I had planned to step in and help my grandson with daily homework and making sure he gets some buddy time with his friends.  This helps my daughter keep up with her homework for the semester.

Next step and with the help of my husband, we moved “my space” into the living room, found a great small footprint desktop, credenza table and an ergonomically friendly chair.  Having that done I thought I was ready to take on anything!

As the weeks went on, I finally started crossing things off my ‘list’ to help me settle into some of the other things I was hoping to do.

My goal in this early retirement was to work out of the house to earn money (hopefully about $300+ per week) until I reach the magic number for social security which for me is 62 years old.

I did jump into a short term bookkeeping job for a small design company.  Which was a nice start.  Next I started planning to start a business to sell antiques, vintage wares and fresh pot pourri on line or through a local antique destination.

As we all know ‘Murphy’ interrupted my plans with my daughter falling ill and needing a root canal.  With Murphy taking up residence in my life, his sister moved in with me falling ill with ear infections and bells palsy for the better part of 6 weeks through Christmas.  That’s when I knew my plans had been pushed way back.

Fast forward to today and here I am writing my first entry in my new ventures hoping to go forward from here on.

Here’s to my plans and better timing for this new chapter in my life.
